National Trails Day

June 4, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Baxter Trail Workday Concept

What: Always the first Saturday in June, National Trails Day is aimed at advocacy and trail service. Thousands of hikers, bikers, trail clubs, and local nonprofits come together across the US to advocate for, maintain, and clean up their local public lands and trails. Join us for a day of digging, teamwork, and of course, free beer!

Where: Baxter Gulch Trailhead.

Details: The early season melt-out has opened up the opportunity to create a new “Mogul Storage Trail” that will serve as an alternate downhill route off the Baxter Gulch trail switch backs. We are still working with the Town of Crested Butte to dial in the plans. Currently, all plans are “conceptual”. The concept is to create a trail off one of the upper switchbacks and use the giant mounds of dirt to create new jump and berm lines.

This family-friendly event does not require prior experience. We’ll show you what to do! Just show up at 10am, bring your own lunch to eat on the trail, and then stick around for grilling and Ska beer at 3pm.

What To Bring: Long pants, work gloves, hiking boots or work boots, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, lots of water, lunch or snacks.
