Winter Trail Report

Here is a list of all the trails you can fat bike on in the Gunnison Valley! You may also walk, ski, or snowshoe on most of these trails. Do check the signage or land manager’s policies if you have any questions.

Click on the drainage/location to learn more about the trails there, and click on the trail’s name to learn more about that specific trail. Please help us by submitting an observation if you see something we should report!

Newly Groomed

2/28/20 – Primed for Fatties! Solid track to cabins before Gothic, a little wind loading beyond that but it is riding great!

Newly Groomed

2/27/20: Enjoy some early weekend groomers!

2/27/20 – Groomed by CBMR.

User compacted – sees much use, and great for fat bikes after all this use!  Also the means and way to get to Teddy’s Winter Trail. Great riding, some uphilling to be done, but hey, that makes for fun downhilling! Can often ride all the way to the top of the road for a 3 mi climb and nearly 1500’ vert.
Connect w N. Village, Teddys, and Gothic for a monster ride!!!

Park at N. Village to avoid the crowds at the Snodgrass trailhead.

2/27/20: Fresh groomers for the weekend!

Groomed! Access via North Village and Snodgrass Road (easier to go up Snodgrass Rd, more fun to come down the steep downhill back into N. Village).  It’s obvious – it’s the super groovy well groomed track just coming off Snodgrass Rd about 1/3 mi. up – right turn then the loop is well groomed.  Fun either way – ride it both directions, and if have to walk any of the hills, please walk on the side and leave a nice flat groomed area in the middle for the bikes that can make the climbs.

User compacted out there. Remember it’s a multi-use corridor so review the Trail Etiquette before you head out there.

If you’re going crust riding, be sure to know your property boundaries to avoid trespassing! The CBG Trails Winter Layer can help.

Newly Groomed

Groomed by CB Nordic, open to bikes.

Not normally maintained, but sometimes user compacted.  Stick with the Town Ranch loops for the formal access – open to fat bikes, but groomed by CN Nordic.  Fat bikes allowed on Town Ranch and the Riverbend groomed trails to access Brush Creek – best way to get to the Golf Course and out Brush Creek.

Do not leave trail: you’ll be trespassing on private property and that could compromise access for ALL users. The CBG Trails Winter Layer can help.

Groomed by SNOtrackers

Groomed regularly by the good peeps at SNOtrackers – a well used motorized corridor, but also sees great grooming that makes for good fatty’ing, or cross country skiing.  But be aware, weekends and busy seasons see high motorized use to whom advocates for and maintains the area.

If you’re going crust riding, be sure to know your property boundaries to avoid trespassing! The CBG Trails Winter Layer can help.

Be sure to check with the CBAC about avalanche conditions! Proceed with caution. Be safe out there!

2/27/20: Both loops groomed on the 27th, ALOT of wind blowing out there but it should set up nicely heading into the weekend!

*** Please be careful when accessing the trail, that corner of the Country Club parking lot is VERY icy***

12/20/19: Groomed for the season!  No dogs out there, please respect the groovy access!

Super Al of Camp 4 Coffee is hard at it, grooming Cement Creek regularly. Flats, 2 track, sleds, bikes…. you name it!

Thanks to grooming fanatic from Camp 4 Coffee, Al Smith, for all his efforts to keep Cement Creek in good shape!

Some of these trails are groomed by CBMBA or Gunnison Trails specifically for fat biking. Some are groomed by other organizations, like CB Nordic or Gunnison Sno-Trackers, but you can still fat bike on them. Others are just user compacted.
