The Caves trail is the short stretch of 409 that spans from Cement Creek Rd to the intersection with Walrod Cutoff (418). Early in the season this is one of the first trails to melt out and is often ridden as an out-and-back at that time of the year, but it’s a brutally STEEP climb! A little later in the year, many people make this a loop by parking at the bottom of Caves and riding up Cement Creek Road, turning left on Walrod Road, turning left on Walrod Cutoff, and then descending Caves back to Cement Creek Rd. You could also add Point Lookout if you’re looking for a longer ride.
It is very popular with hikers so keep the speed in check.
