Winter

CBMBA believes in the power of access to the outdoors, year-round. We groom trails around Crested Butte, Colorado for fat biking, but you can also cross-country ski, snowshoe, walk, or run on our trails. All of these groomed trails are FREE to use!

"Colorado’s Gunnison Valley long ago earned its place near the top of the mountain biking marquee. With two amazing—and perfectly complementary—trail systems in Crested Butte and Hartman Rocks, it’s a place fat tire enthusiasts from across the state, country and world yearn to ride. But that’s in the summer, when trails are dry and temperatures warm. Come winter, skis replace bikes, and the famed steeps of Crested Butte Mountain Resort take center stage.

There’s just one problem. It doesn’t always snow, at least not enough to make the skiing great every day. So what to do then? Is there an outdoor activity that can fill the gap between powder days? The answer, says famed mountain bike racer turned IMBA executive director Dave Wiens, is an emphatic, 'Yes.' "
