Mud Season in effect at Hartman Rocks. Mud Season means no motos, bikes or horses on trails and roads until the big thaw arrives and we’ve got dirt. The south aspects are melting extremely fast, but northern aspects are still holding plenty of snow. Hikers and runners can still use the trails, but please head out there early in the morn. when things are still frozen. If you find yourself in some slop, stay on the trail and avoid trampling the sage on the shoulders…less trail maintenance for us later in the year! Here’s hoping Hartmans fully opens by the end of the month/early May.

For more info, check out the Gunnison Trails Grooming Report.

Gunnison Trails is grooming singletrack on snow at Hartman’s!  The plan is to groom Jack’s, Beck’s, Buddy Bear, Luge, Alonzo’s, and a network of roads by the front side moto park to get riders from the front side over to the Behind the Rocks area and Alonzo’s. Jack’s is a solid gut-buster uphill from the parking lot, but all rideable. You get a nice reprieve on the road before climbing up Beck’s. For now (12/10/18) you can keep on going up and hit Rocky Ridge, which gets more technical, with a few exposed rocks, tight turns, and short steep descents. But the views are gorgeous and so worth it! From there, you can backtrack to the front side or loop back on the groomed road. We haven’t seen Buddy Bear, Luge, and Alonzo’s on snow yet–descriptions to come. Let the fat biking begin!
You can follow their Facebook page for updates, or check back here. We’re going to try to keep the status as up to date as possible! Want to
